Kidney and PERKS PRODUCTION first collaborated back in 2018, when they created a limited-edition enamel pin featuring the character "Hong Kong Punk Bear," a red-faced teddy bear donning a Mohawk. Kidney's meticulous detailing brought this character to life – a creature simultaneously sulky and deeply passionate about music. The bear's habitat is found in the shadowy recesses of backstreet record stores or intimate, dimly lit music venues within Hong Kong's alternative and punk music scenes.
HONG KONG GARDEN marks Kidney's inaugural solo exhibition in Hong Kong and a pinnacle in his artistic journey. This exhibition beautifully encapsulates the evolution of Kidney's style, weaving together cultural influences and personal experiences into a mesmerising tapestry. His work transcends the confines of convention, urging viewers to perceive the world through his distinctive perspective.
